Introducing ACA WA:

As the foremost peak body in Western Australia's sector, ACA WA stands as the largest advocate for the diverse landscape of our communities. Our extensive membership network spans across metropolitan, rural, regional, and remote areas of WA, representing a rich tapestry of private, community, religious, and locally governed services.

At ACA WA, we proudly operate as a 'not for profit' member association, fostering strong connections with fellow sector peak organisations.
Driven by a resolute commitment, ACA WA endeavours to unite industry stakeholders, government entities, and community organisations. Our collective goal is to collaboratively strive for the optimal outcomes for children and families, ensuring a brighter future for our communities.

Our Role:
1. Representation and Advocacy: ACA WA serves as a powerful advocate for its members, representing a diverse range of early learning services, including Long Day Care (LDC), Outside School Hours Care (OSHC), Private, Community, and Rural and Remote facilities. The association's committee, with both federal and state representation, ensures that the unique voice of the Western Australian sector is heard, leading to successful advocacy for and against changes to regulations.
2. Collaborative Engagement: We foster collaboration at both state and federal levels, actively participating in various Committees and Task Forces dedicated to different aspects of early education and childcare. Through our affiliation with the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA), we make regular submissions to government bodies on Training, Industrial Relations, Government Reviews, Policy, and Regulations, contributing to the broader national dialogue.
3. Member Support: ACA WA is dedicated to supporting its members on issues ranging from Training and Industrial Relations to Regulations. We also respond to inquiries and concerns from non-members and the public regarding ECEC-related matters. This commitment to support extends to keeping members informed about current issues, addressing concerns, and providing valuable resources to enhance the successful operation of early learning services.
4. Positive Relationships and Achievable Goals: We believe in maintaining positive working relationships with all our members. Our focus is on collaboration, understanding, and working collectively towards achievable goals. By fostering a sense of unity and shared
purpose, we aim to create an environment where each member is empowered to contribute to the overall success of the early learning sector in Western Australia.

In essence, ACA WA is dedicated to shaping a future where the early education and care of children are of the highest quality, accessible to all, and supported by a united and proactive community of industry stakeholders.

Our Philosophy:
The philosophy of our association is rooted in a set of shared beliefs among its members:
1. Child-Centric Approach: Members strongly believe that every child deserves a safe and secure environment that not only ensures their safety but also challenges and stimulates their minds. This environment should provide ample time for discovery, reflection, and collaboration, fostering a holistic approach to a child's development.
2. Parental Confidence: The association recognizes the rights of parents to feel confident about the care their children receive. This confidence should stem from an assurance that their children are being nurtured in a safe and proactive environment that respects individuality and acknowledges diverse cultural backgrounds.
3. Commitment to Staff Excellence: Members advocate for the rights of staff, emphasizing the importance of working in a centre of excellence. This commitment extends to improving working conditions and enhancing the public perception of early childhood educators and the industry.
4. Community Engagement: Acknowledging the broader community, the association believes that the community has a right to information and education regarding the benefits of quality early childhood care and education for children in Western Australia. This involves actively engaging with and educating the community about the importance of early childhood development.
5. Voice in Industry Direction: Members assert their right to have a voice in shaping the future direction of the early childhood education industry. This involves active participation in discussions and decision-making processes that influence the industry's trajectory, ensuring that the collective voice of the association is heard and considered.
By upholding these principles, the association aims to contribute positively to the early childhood education landscape, advocating for the well-being of children, supporting parents, empowering staff, engaging with the community, and actively shaping the future of the industry.

Core Focus:
Drawing from its extensive experience in early learning, training, and management, ACA WA collaborates with both Federal and State Governments, regulatory authorities, and various stakeholders. The primary objective is to ensure that families are adequately supported, fostering a sustainable, affordable, and viable early learning sector. Recognising the critical role of quality early learning programs in shaping the lives of families, ACA WA remains dedicated to preparing children for the best start in life and learning.
